Clean eating is truly essential to anyone's fitness journey.
Yes, you have to put in work at the gym but results won't come unless your eating habits match your exercise habits!
This means that you have to be making an effort to be eating clean like you're making an effort to break a sweat!

In saying that, if you become too strict with your diet, that can lead to over-eating later on, starving and even bingeing. 
That's why it's important to eat in a balanced way.
A balanced diet is different for everyone, everyone's body is different and requires different amounts of food and kinds of food to fuel them.
But if you follow a broad range of guidelines that sets your routine up for success, you can make balanced eating a part of your lifestyle. 


Check the dot points off the list below to pave your way to a more balanced way of eating!

  • Make water your main beverage of choice -
    You don't ever have to think twice about the sugar or fat content of water because there's only one ingredient!
  • Avoid sticking to certain foods -
    even if you eat something like broccoli everyday, make the effort to incorporate different green veggies to a few days of the week.
    This ensures that you are benefiting from the various benefits different types of food offer.
  • If you love your wheat and grains, eat from a variety like rye bread, wholewheat pasta, quinoa and brown rice -
    These options are far more beneficial to your insides compared to white bread, rice and pasta.
  • Try out new wholefoods whenever you get chance -
    seasonal fruit and veggies at the supermarket are always better priced compared to other non seasonal produce,
    it's the perfect opportunity to try something new!
  • Make your own treats -
    definitely enjoy dessert, but make your own clean version when you've got the time so you know exactly what's going into your treats!
  • Eat meals throughout the day -
    rather than skipping breakfast, having big meals later or only eating once a day.
  • Go for ingredients at the supermarket with a short shelf life -
    this means there's little to no preservatives and less processing in the mix
  • Always try to eat something nourishing after a workout - 
    this will maximise the benefits of your workout and prevent bingeing later on
  • Complement your meals with greens -
    Breakfast, lunch or dinner, anytime is a good time to add a nutritional green boost to your meals.
    The fibre in veggies will keep you fuller for longer too!
  • Prepare your portions -
    By preparing some of your meals in sized portions in tupperware or containers, 
    you reduce the risk of unknowingly overeating. Even putting your nuts in plastic bags will stop you from unintentionally eating half the bag!
