Gym Bag Essentials for Women

I get a lot of questions in my inbox asking about what I bring to the gym so I decided to write a blog to include my gym bag essentials for women!

It's a little different for me - owning and running a gym with Nathan means that I can keep a lot of my necessities close by in my office.

Before running our own business, I was definitely one of those who would pre-pack their gym bag the night before and lay my outfit on the ground next to the bed.
My workouts were (and still are!) my me time, and I LOVED looking forward to a session.

So what would I pack in my gym bag? / What would I pack in my bag if I were to visit gyms when visiting family in Adelaide?

The absolute essentials I bring every time I step foot in the gym are:

  • Earphones
    My holy grail gym essential!
    I am definitely guilty of playing a bit of Ed Sheeran during an intense set, but I also love R'n'B, hip hop and of course Bieber...
  • Drink bottle
    I drink water during workouts purely to keep hydrated.
    Some others keep one on them to have pre-workout, post-workout supplements and protein.

  • Towel
    Not only will this keep your gym environment clean - it's a good feeling when you know you're working hard and breaking a sweat! My Sophie Guidolin workout towels are down to just $19.95.

Other things I call necessities that you may like to bring along next session:

  • THE BOD
    I'm still following the MAINTENANCE BOD level and loving how convenient it is to have a hard copy on hand.
    The book is small enough to fit snug in your gym bag - but with magazie-style pages - has soooo much content.
  • Quality lifting shoes
    I wear a lot Nike - I'm sure you guys can tell. When I'm lifting, I go for my Nike Metcons which have flat-soles but provide effective support as well.
    Whatever choice you make, make sure the shoe provides the support you need for the type of training you'll do.
  • Kinetic bands
    My newest fitness accessory discovery this year...if you want to take your next leg day up a notch and lift and tone that booty.
    In one word - OUCH.
    I wrap the bands right above my knees and use these for incline walks, lunges and all things booty.
  • Belt
    I go over the usefulness of lifting belts a lot in my Squat Tutorial but in summary - belts are amazing for keeping your core contracted and tight.
    Having it there is a reminder to keep everything stabilised and use perfect technique in your movements.
  • iPhone
    Yep, I whip out my iPhone during my workouts...
    Only so I can track my workouts and record my results.
    I've been doing this a lot lately to keep on top of the Functional Sessions in THE BOD.
