So, the question I've been getting asked A LOT about. is MEAL PLANNING.

How exactly do I meal plan and how do I get it done with a family of six in mind?

There are a lot of things that have to go into consideration and I break our families weekly meal needs into segments:

  • The twins' food
  • The boys' food
  • Nathan's and my own food

From there, we need to consider factors like budget, food already in the fridge, ingredients already in the panty, what the boys feel like eating for the week, that my hormone and iron levels are sufficient (I feel like my body lacks iron a lot of the time) and that I make the most of the time I have.

This vlog is my take on how to deal with things like these to ensure I can save money, I won't create unnecessary food wastage, provide my family nutritious meals that they can enjoy - and do this all efficiently at the same time.

With all these things in mind, I can then create a shopping list and the rest is history.. sort of. I have also included my weekly meal planning template FREE at the end of this blog so be sure to grab your copy!

I use this template all the time to make life a little easier - you may be surprised after writing the meals you've planned for a week that you already have some of the ingredients you need at home. And you may even realise after writing the meals down that you may only need a handful of carrots rather than a bag. Ingredients that you're planning to buy might already be in your pantry and you'll soon learn that you can afford to buy less of a lot of things.

You'll see in the video how easy to use it is and how handy it can be.

Most of the time, we prefer to meal prep twice in a week so our meals can be super fresh - but how often you prep boils down to how much time you have. If we're busy or under the pump - once a week works as well. It would be crazy to assume everyone leads the same daily lives and can just meal plan and prep as they choose, so I hope this template will help those of you out there with tight budgets and schedules.
